Chronic pelvic pain (CPP) is a pain in the pelvic region (the area below the belly button and above hips). It is considered chronic if it lasts for at least 6 months. The pain may be constant or intermittent, dull or sharp.
CPP may involve prostate, bladder, urethra, scrotal bag, vagina, perineal area. Diagnosis of CCP might be difficult and patients often undergo several visits with different specialists.
CCP should be managed through a multidisciplinary approach by exploring both physical and psychological factors and actively involving the patient.
